General Call for Papers

SCOPE

Digitalization can be described as the use of digital technologies to change a business model and provide new revenue and value-producing opportunities.

The main idea behind the “Digitalization” is that a digital organization should “break into” smaller components that are fully digitized and allow interactions with other components, in a way that enables the completion of operations as defined in the business model of the organization.

Enterprises need to engineering new business, process, organisational and economic models, devices and infrastructures. These should allow multichannel, structured, unstructured processes and data. Digitalization should support better and faster decisional systems allowing seamless human-machine integration and interactions inside and outside the enterprise’s borders (enterprise mobility solutions, external sensors, etc.).

Technologies as cyber physical systems, internet of things and robotics are a must to create smart and ambient-enabling enterprises and supply chains, consisting of interconnected people, enterprise software, smart CPS, digital documents, sensors, wearables, etc..

The typical engineering lice cycle (design, build, operate and improve) must be deployed to create digital enterprises.

CIO’17 is open to quality papers that help researchers and practitioners to face this new era of digital transformation looking for more competitive organizations but at the same time more sensitive with the people and the environment.

The workshop proposal topics are opened to both the areas covered in the main conference topics (from a practical results point of view) and other areas not covered there. Workshops provide a space to discuss advanced research and innovative solutions, seeking also to show results achieved from industrial applications and/or research projects. Workshops may also be devoted to digital transformation case studies, solutions for industrial sectors or best practices and success cases.

DOCTORAL SYMPOSIUM

The Doctoral Symposium is specially designed for students involved in the preparation of their PhD in any area related to the main CIO’17 topics. This Symposium brings the PhD students the chance to actively discuss their research issues and ideas with senior researchers and receive constructive feedback from members of the research community.

Accepted papers will be presented during the Doctoral Symposium by the PhD students who should be inscribed for the conference. Accepted papers will be published in the CIO’17 Proceedings Book. A best paper award will be given to the outstanding paper and will be published in LECTURE NOTES (Springer). More information about the call for Doctoral Symposium page.
